Jaharah is currently a deputy dean for research and a professor at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She obtained her BEng, MSc and PhD from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, Warwick University, UK, and University of Malaya, Malaysia respectively. She is a corporate member of Institute of Engineer Malaysia (MIEM), a professional Engineer from Board of Engineer Malaysia (Ir) and a member and ex-treasurer for Malaysian Tribology Society (MYTRIBOS). Her research interests are in machining process particularly in metal cutting: metal cutting: optimization of machining parameters; characterization of tool failure and wear mechanism; Tool condition monitoring (TCM).
